All about Eve

Akhir-akhir ini (eh bukan cuman akhir2 ini deng...hampir tiap hari) aku pulang selalu lewat magrib. Alasannya banyak: lagi konsentrasi kerja, hujan, lagi "tanggung", nungguin pecel ayam yang tendanya baru berdiri sehabis magrib, atau sekedar malas beranjak dari kursi. Pulang malam agak lebih nyaman, nyampe rumah langsung makan, mandi dan tidur. Zzzzzz....kebo!

Kalau pulang magrib, pastinya sudah hampir tidak ada manusia di gedung ini (gedung c tercinta) karena perkuliahan malam hari dilaksanakan di gedung h. praktis temanku di gedung c yang juga betah pulang malam tinggal satu: bang iim. kalo beliau lagi dinas keluar kota, aku tidak akan berani tinggal lebih lama dari jam 4 (jam pulangnya rata-rata orang gedung c).

Bang iim ini punya kegemaran yang agak berbeda dibanding staf lainnya. beliau tertarik pada work psychology, tapi bukan work psychology mainstream. beliau juga akhir-akhir ini tertarik pada psikologi timur dan perkembangannya (untuk yang satu ini, kita punya kesamaan minat). karena tahu aku juga suka mempelajari psikologi timur (kita mengatakannya psikologi holistik instead of psikologi inkremental), bang iim dengan senang hati bersedia membagi resourcesnya tentang topik itu.

Kemarin aku dipinjami buku berjudul "the unknown life of jesus christ" yang berkisah tentang perjalanan yesus ke india, yang didapat dari hasil pencariannya tentang psikologi timur. bang iim adalah seorang muslim sejati, tetapi dia juga seorang multikulturalis yang tidak hanya menerima keberadaan orang/iman yang berbeda dengan imannya, tetapi juga berusaha memahami filosofinya. mungkin baginya pemahaman tentang filosofi religi tertentu akan membuatnya memahami bahwa pada dasarnya tujuan kita sama, dan agama hanyalah metode untuk mencapai tujuan yang sama.

anyways, i even don't wanna talk about him. hehehe. i just wanna share something beautiful from the book, about what jesus said about woman. aku ingat ada ayat yang bicara tentang pandangan yesus tentang wanita di alkitab, tapi lupa ayatnya. kata-kata di dalam buku ini (the unknown life of jesus christ) ditemukan pada manuskrip-manuskrip india. katanya, orang india percaya bahwa yesus yang pernah datang ke india pada usia 14 tahun datang kembali ke india setelah bangkit dari kematiannya. orang india suka banget mengklaim tokoh-tokoh terkenal! jadi inget cerita di goa, katanya Francis Xaverius meninggal di Malaka dan jasadnya dibawa ke Goa karena beliau suka berada di sana. Waktu di Goa kami berkunjung ke katedral yang ada jenazah Francis Xaverius (usia jenazah sudah 500 tahun lebih dan tidak dibalsem!) entah betul entah tidak, karena portugal pun mengklaim mereka memiliki jenazah Francis Xaverius.

Lho ngelantur lagi...ini dia what jesus said about woman (udah diterjemahin dari bahasa hindi/pali? ke bahasa inggris - tentunya bukan gw yang nerjemahin):

It is not meet that a son should set aside his mother, taking her place. Whosoever respecteth not his mother, the most sacred being after his God, is unworthy of the name of son.

Listen, then, to what I say unto you: Respect woman, for she is the mother of the universe, and all the truth of divine creation lies in her. She is the basis of all that is good and beautiful, as she is also the germ of life and death. On her depends the whole existence of man, for she is his natural and moral support.

She gives birth to you in the midst of suffering. By the sweat of her brow she rears you, and until her death you cause her the gravest anxieties. Bless her and worship her, for she is your one friend, your one support on earth.

Respect her, uphold her. In acting thus you will win her love and her heart. You will find favor in the sight of God and many sins shall be forgiven you.

In the same way, love your wives and respect them, for they will be mothers tomorrow, and each later on the ancestress of a race.

Be lenient towards woman. Her love ennobles man, softens his hardened heart, tames the brute in him, and makes of him a lamb.

The wife and the mother are the inappreciable treasures given unto you by God. They are the fairest ornaments of existence, and of them shall be born all the inhabitants of the world.

Even as the God of armies separated of old the light from the darkness and the land from the waters, woman possesses the divine faculty of separating in a man good intentions from evil thoughts.

Wherefore I say unto you, after God your best thoughts should belong to the women and the wives, woman being for you the temple wherein you will obtain the most easily perfect happiness.

Imbue yourselves in this temple with moral strength. Here you will forget your sorrows and your failures, and you will recover the lost energy necessary to enable you to help your neighbor.

Do not expose her to humiliation. In acting thus you would humiliate yourselves and lose the sentiment of love, without which nothing exists here below.

Protect your wife, in order that she may protect you and all your family. All that you do for your wife, your mother, for a widow or another woman in distress, you will have done unto your God.
